ABOUT ANNA

I’m Anna Anderson and it’s wonderful to have you here.

Born in 1954, in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, I was transported to another life at six weeks old. After being adopted, I grew up in the market town of Yarm-on-Tees, on the border of North Yorkshire and County Durham.

As an only child, my love of reading offered me the chance to escape into incredible childhood adventures and identify with thrilling young characters as they took me to their imaginary worlds.

From six years old, I was hooked on the written word.

Anna on her 50th birthday. Her book was still on the back burner then

My passion to care for, nurture and teach children came to fruition in 1975, when I qualified as a primary school teacher. Forty-five years on, having shaped countless lives, my aim was always to help children believe in themselves and shine brightly.

In later years, I set up a home tutoring business to help children who had lost enthusiasm for learning and lacked confidence in their abilities. To see them blossom again and feel proud of themselves made my heart sing.

For the past fourteen years, I have lived with my wonderful partner who has supported and inspired me to follow my dream of becoming a published author. Our eleven-year-old cat, Linsey, has been involved in this journey too: sitting beside me, swiping pens off the desk and listening to every word as I edited my story by reading it out loud.

After retiring, I have also been spurred on by other budding authors and ‘the guru’ himself in Michael Heppell’s ‘Write That Book’ Masterclass which I joined in 2021.

I am thrilled to announce that Book One in my trilogy, Survival Without Roots is now available to order by clicking the button below.

I would love you to join me on my future writing journey. By subscribing here, you can look forward to an exclusive AUDIO CLIP straight to your INBOX, plus future updates, news and special offers.

Confusion Alert – Anne versus Anna

Okay, this is complicated …

After being adopted I was known as Anne until in 1978, four friends and I visited the magical Greek island of Mykonos. One sultry evening in Kostas’s Bar on the harbour front, Kostas himself came over to chat along with his wife, Helena. He grinned at us as he made his way around our table, and Helena followed, tracing the sign of the cross on each of our foreheads in turn. Kostas announced the Greek version of our English names and I became known as Anna.

Instantly, fond memories of another person with that name came flooding back to me. You will learn more about her as you read my first book and hopefully grow to admire her, as I did.

Desperate to leave the younger years of my life behind and the pain associated with them, I adopted the name Anna from then on and it became my new identity.

Legally, I am still Anne but have chosen to write my books  under my ‘given’ Greek name of Anna.

There now … explanation complete. I hope that all makes sense!
